Pregnancy is such a special and memorable time. These are your first moments of motherhood, and they are priceless. A maternity portrait session is the perfect way to capture your gorgeous glow and intense emotions as timeless art. At no other point in your life will a photographer ask you to stick out your belly. OUR STYLE

Our maternity photography sessions are customized to reflect your personality and style. We strive to create a relaxed and comfortable experience, while capturing a variety of artistic portraits. With an eye for perfect moments and unique perspectives, we create maternity portraits that are beautiful, intimate, and emotional. Sophie helps with styling and posing, while Michael has the expertise in artful lighting and retouching to bring out the best in your maternity portraits. We love getting to know each of our clients, and creating one-of-a-kind maternity art
 that you will treasure forever.

SCHEDULING

Maternity Photography Sessions fill up quickly, and it is always best to contact us as soon as possible for an appointment. Maternity photography is best captured around 32 to 36 weeks, when your belly is full and round, but can be scheduled all the way up until your due date. This timing can be different for everyone, so we encourage you to give us a call to discuss.

STUDIO or OUTDOORS?

Whether you prefer fine art maternity photography in the studio, or stylish lifestyle photos outdoors, there are endless possibilities for beautiful maternity art. Our studio is a warm and cozy environment with an abundance of natural light, as well as backdrops and artistic lighting for fine art silhouettes. We also offer maternity portraits in the natural splendor of the outdoors. The vibrant colors and textures provide a stunning backdrop. We have lots of favorite locations, and we’re always happy to help you select the ideal setting for your shoot.

WHAT TO WEAR

Styling is a key element for beautiful, timeless maternity photography. For studio portraits, we recommend a pair of lacy black underwear for fine art silhouettes, as well as a pair of flattering cream underwear for glowing natural light portraits. We have several stretchy fabrics in our studio that you’re welcome to incorporate into your maternity portraits. For outdoors sessions, we recommend outfits that flatter your shape and accentuate your curves. An empire-waist gown. A long flowing skirt with a bandeaux bra. Have fun with accessories to add pops of bright color and dimension to your portraits. We love rich textures, simple patterns, chunky jewelry, scarves, hats, headbands, and ruffles. DELUXE MINI SESSION vs PORTRAIT SESSION

Maternity photography sessions are delicate, and we patiently take the time to perfect each pose. Our gentle and detailed approach allows us to capture those stunning moments that become the most beautiful, meaningful portraits. Many of our clients capture their maternity portraits as a Deluxe Mini Session, while saving the larger investment for their Newborn Portrait Session. Our Deluxe Mini Session is a wonderful way to capture beautiful maternity photography without the commitment of a full session. Deluxe Mini Sessions are offered on select weekends in our studio or Central Park. We focus on capturing different poses and perspectives to reflect the beauty of this special time. However, you’re welcome to incorporate ONE alternate style or creative prop for added variety. As an alternative, our regular portrait session is 1-1.5 hours, allowing plenty of time for several style changes and creative props. Our regular portrait session is ideal if you’re interested in a more extensive selection of images to create albums, wall clusters, and collections.

Post-Processing & Ordering

Following your session, Michael selects the best images for processing and retouching. He devotes time to carefully compare the hundreds of images from your session to select the best ones from each concept — based on facial expressions, posing, lighting, sharpness, and overall appeal. These 20-30 images (8 for Mini Sessions) are each individually processed and enhanced into a true work of art.

Approximately 2-3 weeks following your session, we invite you into our Midtown NYC Studio for your proofing session. This presentation will be an emotional experience, after which you will be able to select the images you would like to order for your home, office, family and friends. Michael will consult you on options for displaying your maternity portraits in creative and beautiful ways. We are happy to accommodate you in the evenings and weekends for these appointments.
